Direct Impact & Testimonials

Marie Nichol's Testimony

I was referred to Life Skills for Home for further support, for financial and emotional support, and they helped point me in the direction to help me start to become a better person and more independent. During my time with Life Skills for Home, the skills I have obtained are: financial independence; confidence, and to identify when I need to make changes for the better. I have become more assertive with my boundaries; how to recognise safeguarding for myself. Life Skills for Home have had a huge impact on my life for the better. When I was referred to them, my life was a mess; now I can see a better and brighter future ahead of me.

Franklyn's Testimony

I have been asked to tell my story. The part of my story which is important for this letter, I think, is when I got referred to Life Skills at Home CIC. However, for the person reading this letter to have a full picture, it’s best I briefly tell you how I was day to day whilst I was being given therapy by a gentleman called Stuart.

My support from Stuart was counselling of some sort. He was great, but there was a time issue, meaning how much I could engage with the NHS department Stuart worked for. So he told me he was going to introduce me to a service. To be honest, I wasn’t happy with the idea of it; my reasons for my fear are part of my condition.

This organisation, Life Skills at Home CIC, have filled the gap that would have been there once I left Stuart. My mental health and physical health are not good and I wasn’t getting the attention in a lot of areas where I needed personal help. This organisation assessed me and have given me help in all areas: coming to doctors’ appointments, reminding me when I have them, dealing with issues with my surgery. I have signed a form provided by Life Skills to give them the authority to act on my behalf. I wouldn’t be able to get this level of help from any other organisations that I know of. They help me with forms, letters, and nasty organisations knocking on my door.
